About the Trainer

Michele Martin grew up wanting to become a veterinarian. However, while she never lost her passion for animals,  particularly dogs, a fear of needles, blood and most things slimy cut short her medical career.  While not quite "raised by wolves", as a child in NY state her family raised hounds, some chickens and a great goat named Nannie. Michele has chosen a holistic and sustainable path for her own health for over a decade and several years ago began integrating that into the the lives of the animals she came into contact with. Getting back to basics has had a remarkable effect on many dogs and cats she has worked with.

Over the last 3+ decades she has shared her life with nearly 2 dozen dogs. All of them unique and wonderful. Currently she shares her life and condo with a frisky adolescent rescue named Bella. A purebred Boxer with an appetite for craziness and flirtation (ladies... keep your men away because she has been known to break some hearts), Bella was meant to be a foster until she wormed her way into the bed and Michele's heart. Michele feeds Bella a combination of commercially formulated raw food and a home-made diet but is realistic that it is not the way for everyone. It is her goal to use her knowledge of real food diets and holistic health to help guide people to make better choices for their pets. With real food, real exercise, real dedication.... comes real health.

Ms. Martin is an avid animal lover and animal health advocate who believes that the average urban dog is bored and under exercised... just like the average urban human. She has appeared on local radio and in national periodicals talking about everything from nutrition and fitness to loss and mourning. In 2008 she launched Lucky Dog Organics, an online retailer specializing in sustainably produced pet goods with an emphasis on products that are organic, holistic, and North American made. She is planning to open a for a physical storefront in the spring of 2010. She feels blessed to say that her life has gone to the dogs.

Michele donates 1% of all profits from her online store,Lucky Dog Organics, to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kantab Utah!

She supports spay and neuter programs and believes that adopting, not buying, is the way to true happiness. In her free time she enjoys strolling with her pooch, Miss Bella McBratty and window "shopping" for home renovation ideas, an iced grande 6 pump nonfat chai in hand.
